A sorceress wakes what sleeps. In the end, she is the one asleep.
Legend of Smog was created for Fusion Festival 2025, where it premiered: a duo show with Azim Makachin and me that blends fire, juggling, circus, dance and theatre.
It tells the legend of Smog: a sorceress travels through time, finds the sleeping creature and resurrects it. What follows is a power struggle, at the end of which Smog takes the sorceress’s place. She falls asleep for many years, until the cycle begins again.

It opens with Smog asleep on the floor. The sorceress enters with a mythical, ritual belly dance and fire balance, balances a burning pot on her head and works with levistick and triple poi. In a circle, she is finally beaten by Smog: Smog takes her cloak and staggers off stage, while the sorceress lies down to sleep where Smog once slept. A circular story in which the ending foreshadows the beginning.
