About Lux

Lux Ulonska (they/them) is a hexaglot, multidisciplinary artist with a university degree and a non-binary superhero from Berlin. After serving as a sea rescuer in the Mediterranean in 2022, the then-bestselling author decided to meet the dystopian realities of Fortress Europe with nothing but art and a radically lived queer feminism.

Their wide-ranging work in contemporary dance, theatre, drag and costume design is marked by strong physical intensity, emotional presence and conceptual depth. They cast a curious eye on the outrageous absurdities of our late-capitalist world and the lovable contradictions of human nature, offering queer (read: new) perspectives.

Lux has a strong background in circus, dance and theatre. In 2025, Lux co-created and performed the shadow-theatre piece "UNDINI Uncut" with Théa Haug and Majó Rika, funded several times by the KiA fund. In 2026 they developed the solo piece "GEWEBE". As part of the Berlin drag-thing collective Creature Kin, they bring "Mushroom Tales" to stages in Berlin and to festivals across Europe.

Alongside this, Lux is building a reputation as a versatile costume designer – most recently with the costume design for "THE PIECES" by ALOFT CIRCUS, which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2026 and is now touring internationally.
